Ginger and I began dating in 1960, married in 1965, and lived in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, until 1967 while I finished my undergraduate work in political science. We moved to Charlotte, where she was a school teacher and I worked in various positions in the City of Charlotte personnel department.
I obtained an educational leave and we again lived in Chapel Hill from 1971-72 while I worked on a Master of Public Administration degree. We returned to Charlotte and resumed our careers, remaining there until 1974, when I was appointed Assistant City Manager of Decatur, Georgia. Ginger continued her work as a middle school music teacher until Lauren was born in 1977. She eventually resumed work as the school secretary for Lauren's elementary school.
We remained in Decatur until 1989. That year, I was appointed Public Safety Director of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Ginger became the school secretary/bookkeeper/business manager for a middle school in Chapel Hill.
In 1990, I was selected by the Council as Town Manager. I served in that post for sixteen years, until I retired in 2006. I also was an adjunct faculty member in the UNC School of Government, teaching the courses in city and county management in the Master of Public Administration Program from 2002 to 2008.
Ginger and I moved to Prescott, Arizona, in 2010. Prescott is in the central mountains, in the middle of the Prescott National Forest. We traveled, hiked, and served as volunteers for the US Forest Service and the Highlands Center for Natural History.
In March, 2022, we moved to DeLand, FL, a small college town (Stetson University) and are enjoying exploring our new state.
Some of my favorite memories: our championship football team's outstanding season during our senior year; hours and hours at the L&M; open house at White Memorial; singing for Judy Freeman as a member of the Ensemble; Oklahoma; falling in love with Ginger.

Gennie and I met each other in the fifth grade and were friends through Morson and our graduation from Broughton. She was always a sweet girl. I was glad that I got to see her at a couple of our reunions.

My earliest memories of growing up in Caraleigh involve Phyllis. We attended each other's birthday parties, played outdoors together, visited in each other's homes, attended Vacation bible School together, and went through the Raleigh schools system together. She was a sweet girl, and was one of the prettiest I ever knew. We last saw each other at a Caraleigh Reunion about two decades ago, but we kept up with each other through the Broughton Web page. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
Mack, I hope that you and Carol will have a Christmas of joy and a New Year of Peace, All good wishes, Calvin

Don, Ginger and I both are well. Had minor damage from the hurricane and some related complications that made it impossible for us to get to the reunion. We really were disappointed that we couldn't get there. I'm going to lobby for another reunion in five years, with the thought that more of us might make it that far. I trust that all goes well for you.
Martin, Hope you've had a great Birthday. All good wishes, Cal
